Saturday The Ozark Mountain Paddlers (OMP) and James River Basin Partnership (JRBP) had 204 volunteers on the Finley River. Volunteers began arriving at the historic Ozark Mill around 7:30am ready to get down and dirty. Over a hundred canoes were on the river to clean up the stretch from the Mill pond to the new Ozark Wastewater Treatment Plant. After navigating the 4.9 mile stretch, the first canoes began arriving full of trash including vehicle seats, car batteries, scrap metal ranging from car parts to refrigerators, watering tank, wooden and metal signs, plus much, much more weighing several tons; 65 passenger tires, 8 large truck and 3 tracker tires were also hauled out of the river. This was made possible because of the hard work from all our dedicated cleanup volunteers.
"The Trashiest Boat" award was given to Kyle Bentley and the "Wilson Creek Group Home" boys with 8 trash packed canoes including all kinds of scrap metal and even some kind of metal frame that was approximantely 10' x 4', metal barrels, plus much much more!

Afterwards volunteers and friends joined us at the beautiful Ozark Mill on the banks of Finley River!
The "River Rescue Dam Jam" featured local bands including: Uncle Fudd, HonkyTonk Renovaters and Honky Suckle bringing in hundreds of people to enjoy the music and celebrate the successes of River Rescue. Refreshments were provided by Johnsonville Brats and Springfield Brewing Company provided the beer wagon. The beautiful location was made available for this event thanks to Bass Pro. All proceeds will help JRBP provide a cleaner and healthier environment for generations to come.
